Mira Mesa is an area north of San Diego that was built on the site of an old air force base during World War II. It was used by the US Army as a bomb test area and also as as a landing field that was known locally as Hourglass Field because of its shape.
A housing boom in the area that now extends from the I-15 freeway in the East to I-805 in the West and is approximately 10,500 acres gave San Diego one of its largest areas of urban sprawl along the I-15 Corridor. Hourglass field became the site of Miramar College. But the area grew so quickly residentially that it lacked schools, shopping centers, or other services for its thousands of residents. The area was a mess. In 1971 Pete Wilson started his political career running for mayor with the slogan “No more Mira Mesas” as a promise to stop unplanned growth in San Diego. Since then it has turned into a cosmopolitan area with numerous ethnic stores and restaurants. Quite the turnaround.
There are many nail salons in Mira Mesa, the best being:
- Escape At Tiffany’s
- Tori Nail Bar And Spa
- Red Iguana Hair and Nail Salon
- Nail Time And Spa
There are even more that are well-respected in Mira Mesa. But if you the time why not venture south to a gem of a salon in Chula Vista.
Boudoir Nail Bar is earning itself an enviable reputation as the prestige nail salon in the area – and with good reason. It was founded by a husband and wife team who were fed up with poor service, poor communication, poor hygiene and a mediocre ambience. They decided to do something about it. Since then Nora and James Neff have established one of the most impressive nail salons in the greater San Diego area, drawing clients from miles away.
Don’t take my word for it, go there yourself.
