Popularly the gay center of San Diego and just above downtown, Hillcrest is not remiss in catering to ladies of both persuasions in the area. The streets are pedestrian friendly and there are numerous restaurants and bars to choose from.

Slightly to the south, North America’s largest urban park sits at the edge of this neighborhood. Balboa Park was Built in 1915 for the Panama-California Exposition and expanded in 1935 for the California Pacific International Exhibition. It contains 16 museums housed mostly in ornate Spanish-Renaissance buildings. It is also home to the world-famous San Diego Zoo and the Tony-award winning Old Globe Theater. You can’t cover everything in a day. So allow yourself some time to explore.

In Chula Vista, about 11 miles south of Hillcrest is a nail bar that is the inspiration of husband and wife team of James and Nora Neff. It was established on the premise that the standard of service in a nail bar or salon can never be too high.
