Balboa Park was Built in 1915 for the Panama-California Exposition and expanded in 1935 for the California Pacific International Exhibition. It contains 16 museums housed mostly in ornate Spanish-Renaissance buildings. It is also home to the world-famous San Diego Zoo and the Tony-award winning Old Globe Theater.
